You can use the motion sensor to switch the Near smart strip kit on as a night light to guide your way to the toilet at night quietly.
Step 1: Tap on the "Smart" icon, then the "Plus" icon on the top right-hand corner of the automation screen.
Step 2: Tap on "When device status change"
Step 3: Tap on "Motion Sensor"
Step 4: Tap on "PIR" (i.e. Passive Infrared Sensor) then check "On". On means, motion is detected. Off means no motion detected.
Step 5: Tap on the "Plus" icon on the top right corner of the task section and select the device you'd like to control. In this case, it is the Near Smart Strip.
Step 6: Tap on "Run the device", then "Near LED strip" and check the ON button.
Step 7: Rename this automation, select an appropriate colour for this icon and decide the effective period.
Step 8: Tap on "Save" and you're set! Now your Near smart strip can switch itself on automatically when motion is detected. You can end in this step if that's all you want to do.
If you'd like to turn the Near smart strip into a motion sensor nightlight, follow the steps in this article
to create a delayed-off smart scene, but set the delay timing to 20s instead of 5mins.
Once you are able to achieve the screen on the right, you're all set!
Note: As this is considered a "busy" location for the motion sensor, we recommend that you power the motion sensor with a Micro B USB cable instead to prevent the need for frequent battery replacements.
