A good rule of thumb to prevent your household devices like fan/air-con working with the Near smart remote or Near smart lights from getting switched off when the motion sensor doesn't detect motion is to create a short delay so that your devices will not switch off immediately.
We recommend 1 minute. A limitation of wi-fi enabled smart sensors is lag, this is a "good to have" function but not as reliable as other "simpler" automation such as "when no motion is detected = lights off" or "when motion is detected = lights on"
Step 1: Tap on the "Smart" icon, then the "Plus" icon on the top right-hand corner of the automation screen.
Step 2: Tap on "When device status change"
Step 3: Tap on "Motion Sensor"
Step 4: Tap on "PIR" (i.e. Passive Infrared Sensor) then check "off". Off means no motion detected. On means, motion is detected.
Step 5: Tap on "Delay".
Step 6: Choose how long you would delay your smart setting. In this case, it is 1 minute after no motion is detected. Click "Next".
Step 7: Tap on the "Plus" sign on the top right hand of the task section to add Near smart devices to control. In this case, we want the air-con to switch off after 1 minute of inactivity.
Step 8: Tap on the "Air-con" icon.
Step 9: Tap on "Switch" and make sure that the air-con remote shows a dark screen which means that the air-con is off, then tap on "Next".
Step 10: Rename this automation, select an appropriate colour and click save. You're set!
**Important note: Please make sure to arrange "Delay" to be above the Near smart device(s) you'd like to control so that the delay command takes precedence.
